About the Site
What is the aim for Zardos Demon?
Simple! To have fun.
I want Zardos Demon to be a site that people visit because they want to see my work. I also want to share with my visitors my interests and things that I have learned. Most important of all, I want to show my visitors that anything is achieveable and it only takes knowledge and practice to be able to accomplish new goals.
What is that angel character I keep seeing?
Oh, that's Mizuki - the official Zardos Demon mascot! While it might seem strange that an angel is the mascot for a website with the word 'demon' in it, it was done intentionally.
Mizuki's name when written in Japanese, uses the characters for water (水 - Mizu) and hope (希 - Ki). Although I haven't released much information on her yet, I am in the process of developing her story.
The current story concept is that Mizuki, a regular girl, is given angelic powers. Eventually she starts to have problems with the use of these powers and needs to combat her inner demons in order to return to her original self.
What do the three-letter codes mean?
The three-letter codes that you see in the blog and on my YouTube page are what I call "channels". They are a way for me to easily categorize the different things I want to provide on the website. Here is a short explanation of what they are:
- ZDM :: Zardos Demon - A general category for anything site-related.
- HZD :: History - A YouTube only channel that provides a glimpse of my current and past portfolio websites.
- HW2 :: How to - Various tutorials to share what I have learned.
- RVW :: Review - Used for reviewing any product that I find.
- JPN :: Japan - Anything related to Japan (not including reviews).
- AUS :: Australia - Anything related to Australia (not including reviews).
- 3DL :: Free Downloads - Website only channel for me to provide all sorts of free things.
Is there a style guide for the Zardos Demon brand?

About Me
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Peter and I am located in Geelong, Australia. I have an interest in multimedia design and would like to become a professional designer one day. At the moment I am just working on my skills and building my reputation with this website.
What does 'Zardos Demon' mean?
Zardos Demon doesn't really have a meaning. When I first started out on the Internet, I wanted to have my own email account. I was interested in 1980's Australian computer hackers at the time (still am) and there was a security mailing list back then called 'zardoz'. When I chose my email address username, I misspelled 'zardoz' and instead I typed 'zardos'. I wanted something cool to add to the username and at the time (2003) and since I was interested in mythic and fantasy creatures I chose 'demon'. When I realised that I spelt 'zardoz' wrong, I actually thought that it was good. I keep checking Google to see how unique my 'handle' is and so far it has been doing very well.
Have you ran other websites?
Yes. There were three previous websites that I have ran before this one. My first website was called Nowhere Inc. and it began as a way to host skins that I had made for a PC racing game called 'V8 Challenge'. Then there was 'Zardos Design' which was my first attempt at using a proper domain name. There were many versions of Zardos Design as I was constantly learning new things. All the pages were hand coded with tables and image maps as I knew very little about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The third website was 'Pete Bailey Design' and it was my first attempt at running a website on a Content Management System (CMS). I tried many new ideas with graphics and CSS and the quality of my work increased.
For more information on previous websites I have ran, visit history.zardosdemon.com.
What tools do you use to create your artwork?
I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 for my artwork and Adobe ImageReady CS2 for animation. Depending on what I am creating, I will use a Wacom Intuos3 tablet instead of a mouse. While I am aware that Photoshop isn't what the professionals use for things like logo design, it certanly isn't the worst program out there. It just happens to be what I can afford at this point in time.
